Business Challenge
Our customer needed a software product that would control workstation activities
and the use of hardware at Internet cafés.
Liscom wanted the software system to have a user-friendly interface, be scalable
to manage a large number of users and workstations, and ensure secure data transfer.
Also, easy localization in all major languages was required to ensure worldwide
commercial success for the product.
Software Solution
Axmor’s .Net developers delivered an advanced software
product that allows Cyber Café administrators to charge clients for time
used on computers and for access to the applications and hardware resources.
- Desktop Activity Monitoring
Cyber Café Manger monitors a client’s activities at each café workstation.
The desktop utility tracks applications running on each computer and blocks access
to applications that are not included in the service package. The use of allowable
applications is charged according to pricing that can differ for different application
groups.
A Workstation Activity Overview window can be displayed by an administrator at any
time. It provides brief information about each workstation and a recent user session
- user name, category, balance, amount charged during the session, and an active
application list.
Every visitor to the Cafe is issued a log-on Smart Card to operate a Cafe computer.
When the card is removed from a reading device, the computer ceases operation. Smart
Cards are also used to authenticate Cyber Café operators.
- Cyber Café Management also maintains:
- Customer accounts
- Logs of clients’ activities
- Various statistical reports
- Flexible pricing
- Different browser options and application groups for each service package
