Our customer produces and sells a suite of project management software products.
Axmor was contacted to develop a software product built on Critical Chain/Buffer
Management concepts.
Software Solution
Axmor Software engineers developed a tool for project planning, tracking and reporting
(view the solution here). The product is an easy-to-install add-on module for Microsoft®
Project.
The product has the following features:
- Provision for forward and backward scheduling to eliminate resource contention.
- Identification of the critical chain based on task and resource dependencies.
- Calculation and insert of project buffers
- Provision of integrated Task Update that identifies buffer incursion
- Provision of project and resource reports.
- Provision of measurements for task level prioritization.
In addition, the solution is a handy tool for visualization risks, which are represented
as time buffers. Also, a planning module allows users to perform resource leveling.
It manages project phases with resource overloads, and has proven to be more efficient
than MS Project Leveling.
The tracking and reporting module allows users to evaluate current buffer status
and update project task status. In addition, a manager can generate project and
resource reports at any time, to evaluate overall project status.
Our customer received a powerful tool implementing functionality with enhanced value
and added services.
