Business Challenge
Axmor’s customer requested a powerful scheduler application for managing and keeping track of activities, setting
appointments and events, and tracking the user’s corresponding time and financial spending. The developed iPhone application is
integrated with the Web based back-end system and performs thorough resource planning and management services, roles management,
history collection, and progress report submissions. It supports offline work mode - when a user works without wireless network
coverage - and it also provides automatic data synchronization and conflict resolutions.
Software Solution
The mobile client works with the Web Services interface to authenticate a user and exchange data with the software back-end. All
data is stored locally in the database, which allows for simple and fast access to the necessary information. The user interface is
designed according to iPhone guidelines so the application users enjoy the most efficient and convenient software use.
The software is designed to minimize the user’s financial spending:
- It supports several synchronization modes in order to decrease the Internet traffic consumption,
- If instant Internet connection is not available or not desired, a user works offline in a fully functional offline mode,
- A user always gets notified of the paid operations (Internet access, SMS sending, etc.) to avoid unexpected outlays.
The Authentication service is based on roles and allows setting specific permissions for each role. Depending on the user's role, in
addition to the core planning and scheduling services, the system gives the opportunity to perform survey generations, send reminders by
e-mail, track expenses, and manage time spent reports.
All synchronization activities are performed in the background when the application is idle. In case of conflicts, the system generates
an immediate report to the privileged user’s attention for conflict resolution.
