Business Challenge
Our customer wanted to be able to use the mobile phone as a tool to provide the
latest sports news, thus requiring further mobile application development.
Software Solution
Axmor’s .NET and J2ME developers completely satisfied our customer’s
requirements by designing the software that downloads information
about motorcycle competitions directly to the user’s mobile phone, and provides
regular updates of live data.
The user visits our customer’s web site and downloads, to his or her mobile phone,
the MIDlet - J2ME application - related to the next sports event. The application
then shows the event-related data in a hierarchical catalog on the mobile phone
screen.
Functionality of the developed application includes:
- Data collection from several content providers
Axmor’s J2ME developers created a “proxy” server that receives information from
web sites of different content providers and distributes this information to mobile
phones.
- Live data updates from the server
The application supplies competition results to the mobile phone the minute they
are available:
- The event’s count down
- Competitors’ speed and position
- Racing lap results
- Competition results
- Constant information storage on the phone
The user can browse and open files saved on the mobile phone:
- Competitors’ photos and personalities (name, country, age, etc.)
- Trace description
- Trace image
- Advertising information
The user can vote for his or her favorite competitor by sending an SMS.
- Original application interface
The developed interface has advantages over native J2ME capabilities:
- Tables are used to present information
- Lists include objects in different formats, such as text and images
- Data are arranged flexibly on the mobile phone screen
