Business Challenge
Our customer deploys entertaining mobile solutions to the market. Marketing research
indicated that camera phone users were interested in having a Web portal to exchange
pictures taken by phones; insert them into predefined masks (faces, silhouettes)
to compose entertaining images; store, make comments, and share the images.
To maximize value for the consumer, our customer decided to develop a client-server
application with J2ME phone based client side. J2ME phone users could now use their
camera phones to take and save pictures, and insert them into pre-defined masks.
To deliver the solution, the company selected Axmor Software for its skill set in
J2ME development and client-server application development.
Software Solution
In full accordance with customer requirements, Axmor delivered a client-server application
with a client side based on J2ME-enabled mobile phones – a solution consisting of
client and server sides.
Client side
The client side runs on J2ME-enabled camera phones (Nokia 3650, Nokia 6600). Users
can take pictures by phone camera, select the masks, and insert the pictures into
the selected masks.
Server side
The server side runs on the PC with Linux or Windows OS. It is delivered using Apache
web-server, Tomcat servlet engine, and the MySQL DBMS. Axmor engaged Tomcat engine
to decrease the application cost, while providing required solution performance.
A user can log on to the server, send a picture to the server, get the list of backgrounds
from the server, and download a selected background.
Axmor’s disciplined processes and reporting workflow ensured that our customer was
able to monitor project progress at all times, as in onsite development. Our customer
is currently engaging Axmor experts to release a new updated solution version with
enriched functionality.
