Business Challenge
To make possible the monitoring of sales personnel in large stores to assure quality
service, our customer needed a solution that would allow a manager to receive a
live video from the sales area to his or her mobile phone on demand.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Java ME developers implemented an application
that allows the user to select a video channel on the server, watch the video on
the mobile phone, and create reports. Thus, a manager can monitor employees’ work
at any time, even when he or she is out of the office:
- Watching a live video stream from the sales area:
The server application captures data from a common video camera and microphone installed
in the sales area. The multimedia stream is then transferred to the Java ME application
in 3GP format over GPRS.
After watching the video, the user can create a report:
- Name of the sales person
- Date and time of transaction
- Quality of service
- Comments
- Playing back and editing saved videos
Viewed video clips can be saved on the server if required. The saved clip can then
be viewed in detail by using ordinary playback controls. The user can also delete
irrelevant frames from the saved video.
The software solution of this Java ME development can
be used as a virtual “mystery shopper”, or as a tool for regular staff assessments.
