Business Challenge
Mavro Inc. wanted to develop a mobile application for medics serving Spanish speaking patients - the application aimed to prevent miscommunication due to language disparities. The application was to contain information covering several topics; each topic would include various phrases and questions. In practice, an English speaking doctor could select a topic, and then choose his desired phrase or question. Once chosen, the selected phrase would be displayed and spoken in Spanish. In order to avoid miscommunication from the patient, each patient response would be limited to a yes or no answer.
As Axmor already had experience developing mobile dictionary applications and patient tracking applications for medical centers, the client turned to Axmor Mobile Development Team to develop the application.
Software Solution
Axmor mobile software developers created a translation application that reads text and media from the application bundle and populates a hierarchal catalog of phrases.
Software Development
During development some specific requirements were addressed. Since medics routinely provide care in the field, the application was designed for standalone operation; that is, to operate without connection to a mobile network. All pertinent text and media resources are integrated in the product.
The first release of the application was developed for Blackberry devices. This version of the application targeted both touch and traditional display mobile devices.
After witnessing the success of the Blackberry application, the customer requested Axmor to develop an Android version of the application. “They have exceeded all of our expectations, time and time again. We look forward to working with Axmor on any future projects.” - George Mavromaras, Head of Mavro, Inc.
Marketing
After the first Android version of the application was released, the customer realized that sales in Android Market were weak due to the shortcomings of the Android Market itself. In order to raise sales revenue Axmor suggested to release a free version of the application and to add AdMod advertisements to the application. Success: increased sales revenue quickly followed.
Based on this marketing experience the customer requested to add iAd to the iPhone version of the application and publish a free version with some functional limitations.
