Business Challenge
A mobile product catalog could be a wonderful tool for retailers, distributors, and customers. This convenient solution could serve as an information source, a form of promotional material, and a quick reference guide.
Maximum Press approached Axmor to create such a solution for an IBM product line. The client desired an application that is easy to use, contains up-to-date comprehensive information, and is able to operate in standalone mode. Initially the client requested application development for the iPhone platform.
In light of the stunning success of the iPhone application, Maximum Press then approached Axmor to develop Blackberry version of the application. The application was also expanded to cover additional IBM product lines.
“Axmor team was a pleasure to work with. Responsive, professional, on time, and on budget.”- Jim Hoskins, CEO at Maximum Press
Software Solution
Axmor developed an IBM Mobile Quick Reference family of applications for the iPhone and BlackBerry platforms.
The application automatically checks for and updates the product catalog from a central server each time user launch the application. Users can rest assured that they always have up-to-date information. The catalog is stored and managed as a Google spreadsheet document; thus, proving administrators simple Web-based management of the content.
The application operates in both connected and standalone mode. In connected mode the application automatically updates the database content and stores the data on a mobile devices' local storage. Storage of content on the local device minimizes network traffic and allows the application to operate when a network connection is not available. In standalone mode the application calls data from the local device.
List of products on the application are grouped by categories for easy and efficient searching. A user can find highlights, full descriptions, detailed specifications and full-size pictures for each product.
Users can quickly and easily gain additional product information by clicking imbedded links that connect to social media sites, IBM news feeds, and videos. Then he can easily purchase products by contacting IBM via email, phone, or Twitter.
After publishing the applications in Apple App Store and Blackberry App World t, the client requested extended support from Axmor. During this period Axmor handled all support requests from U.S. and foreigner end users.
