Business Challenge
To take orders for medical care and assign medical crews accordingly, our customer
had developed a software system in-house. However, it was too costly to hire a software
developer to maintain the application. When a deal was signed with a large organization,
our customer was forced to establish custom management procedures, requiring changes
to the existing software. Axmor was contacted to implement these changes.
Software Solution
Upon determining our customer's software requirements, we presented a detailed technical
proposal. Shortly after, Axmor's .NET programmers learned the existing software
solution and planed modifications required to adapt the software to a new business
environment.
The new functionality necessitated database modifications, but keeping the application
up and running was critical. Our .NET programmers designed a new database structure
and delivered SQL scripts to make modifications to the database without disrupting
normal work.
To support the new workflow, Axmor developed the following application functionality:
- Taking medical care orders
When filling the order, the operator selects from a predefined list of addresses,
or creates a new address. The name of a contact person and patient's data are recorded.
The medical crew is assigned based on its availability, specialization, and according
to the specified addresses or postal-code preferences of the crew. The crew is notified
of the assignment via SMS. To implement this functionality, Axmor's .NET programmers
suggested using an email-to-SMS bridge service. The solution matches our customer's
financial plan of a minimal one-time investment for development.
The operator records the arrival of the medical crew at its destination and examination
results - including patient names, treatments performed, medications issued, and
time spent.
The service price is calculated based on actual data of order reports.
Summary reports for every call-out are available for the client organization online
over the corporate web site. Reports were developed using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting
Services, to reduce development costs, while achieving rich reporting functionality
and increasing real-time order processing performance.
