Business Challenge
Our customer decided to automate the inventory of food supplies in restaurants.
Software Solution
Axmor’s PDA developers designed a Palm application
that allows chefs and managers to take inventory and order food directly from the
kitchen and storage rooms.
The food manager responsible for regular supply tracking can now walk around stocked
locations and enter amounts into the Palm device. Each item can be placed in a certain
stocked location. The taking of stock can be assigned to a certain reporting period
and saved on the PDA. The captured data are uploaded to a desktop application during
the next HotSync.
An auditor can upload results of the last inventory to the PDA and check the counts.
The collected data are aggregated and the food manager can estimate food needed,
prepare a supply order, and schedule the delivery of fresh food. The Palm application
facilitates this process by providing quick and easy access to the order history.
The manager can check previous costs, distributors, and place orders in seconds.
- Integration with Food Service Software
Axmor’s developers integrated the PDA application with our customer’s food services
product running on a desktop. With the customer’s development team, we designed
an XML-based data exchange format and enabled the Palm application to communicate
with desktop software.
