Business Challenge
Siemens' Mobility Division, a leading provider of transportation and logistics solutions in the U.S., had implemented more than 300 logistics systems at airports around the world. The existing application for their industry-leading baggage handling system required an upgrade – an add-on feature for a lightweight web-based solution that visualizes flight schedules. The flight schedule upgrade should to allow airport personnel to easily view and modify flight schedule information.
Siemens sought a cost-effective solution: Siemens found Axmor Software. With Axmor's GanttChart – a Silverlight-based user-interface component that creates easy-to-use, multi-function visual displays for charted data – Axmor Software had a proven track record developing the very technology Siemens sought.
The Axmor Team was chosen to build the flight schedule upgrade because of its experience with Silverlight and applications with similar functionality.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Silverlight experts developed a web-based component that allows users to view and edit flight schedule data.
The solution was integrated with the existing system by loading and saving data via web service.
The solution enables user to:
- Track flights statuses and check-in counters schedules by flights
- Add, modify and delete flights from flight schedules
- Filter data for specific carriers, flights, gates, flight duration, etc.
- Drag-and-drop flights between gates, and change flight times
- Expand/contract flights data horizontally (by timeframe)
- Configure colors and patterns in a “legend”
