Business Challenge
Our customer required a universal system that would generate custom, complex reports using multiple data sources accessible through the Web. The reports would contain custom grouping, summaries, filters, and sorting.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Silverlight programmers delivered a custom software solution that includes report design and preview modules. XML was used to define report structure.
Previously, our customer had only a rough business idea, with no technical specifications defined. Axmor’s Silverlight programmers started the implementation by learning the customer’s business concept, providing consulting on technological platform, considering all pros and cons, and converting business needs into a detailed list of detailed software requirements through online communication with our customer.
Axmor Software delivered a solution that consists of these 2 major modules:
- Report Designer.
The Report Designer is used to define a report structure: data source fields, grouping structure, filters available, sorting, etc.
The Report Designer produces a report specification in XML form that is stored in the database.

Report Viewer.
The Report Viewer renders a report according to report specifications that are previously prepared by the Report Designer.
Report have “pilot”-like structure. Users can collapse/expand data groups, and specify custom values in report filters for generating reports that conform user’s business needs more closely.
