Mobile phones are rapidly becoming our second memory bank, containing great amounts
of sensitive personal information. Access to this information by thieves or curious
neighbors violates our privacy. Our customer recognized this concern of mobile phone
users, and invested in a software solution that would secure private information.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Symbian developers implemented an application
for mobile phones that allows the user to create, manage, and insure the privacy
of personal information:
- Private contacts
- Call logs
- SMS and MMS
- Images
- Passwords
This mobile application development provides a high level
of security:
- The application is invisible on the mobile phone
The main challenge was to hide any sign of the application on the mobile phone.
In order to implement this software solution, our mobile developers offered Symbian
phones. Symbian public API allows access to the phone’s folder system and makes
this solution feasible. The more wide spread Java ME technology doesn’t provide this
capability.
The private contact list, the most impressive functionality of the developed application,
allows the user to:
- Create and manage secret contacts in a separate address book on the mobile
phone, invisible to those who don’t know the password.
- Make calls to these contacts.
- Turn off the sound signal when a call from a private contact is received.
- Forgo saving related call logs in a standard call history.
- Save SMS and MMS in a separate folder, that is not available for unauthorized
persons.
- Secure access to the application
Secure access to the application on the user’s mobile phone is activated by a combination
of buttons that serves as a password. When the application is started, the user
can utilize hidden folders to save and retrieve contacts, images, and other files.
Secret passwords are also saved in the secure area.
