Business Challenge
Our customer, who provides brokerage services, decided to deliver current stock
market information to clients’ mobile phones, in addition to their existing online
market information service, but needed to add a module to their server for SMS delivery.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Symbian developers provided a comprehensive
consultation on SMS technology. Moreover, we specified the data format for
the SMS message, thus reducing our customer’s portion of the development workload.
Axmor’s Symbian developers then delivered an application that receives stock market
information via SMS, saves the data retrieved from the SMS in a separate archive,
deletes the SMS, and presents the market data in a useful format, such as graphs
and tables.
We offered to use the PUSH technology to send stock market information to
the mobile phone. This approach doesn’t require a permanent connection to the server
or regular update queries, but the data is delivered as soon as it becomes available.
Our application uses SMS as the most cost-effective tool to deliver market information
in accordance with users’ subscriptions.
Axmor’s Symbian developers designed a Symbian application
that manages and conveniently presents the data received in SMS form:
- SMS receipt and storage
- Filters incoming market-related SMS
- Displays an update notification on incoming market SMS
- Retrieves and saves market-related data from SMS in a separate archive
- Visual data representation in several forms
- Current stock indexes and trends
- Stock index trends for specified periods of times
- Visual market graphs for specified periods of time
- Visual representation of the details of selected stock indexes
Now, users of our customer’s online services can sign up to receive current stock
market information on their mobile phones.
