Business Challenge
Since the mobile phone has now become a fully integrated, multi-purpose device with
camera, microphone and wireless capabilities, our client decided to use it as a
wireless security camera for remote video surveillance.
Software Solution
Axmor’s Symbian developers delivered a video surveillance
solution, where a fixed camera phone serves as a wireless camera and another mobile
phone is used for monitoring. The camera phone:
- Captures video and audio
- Detects motion
- Sends alarm SMS or calls
- Sends MMS recorded clips to another mobile phone
- Starts video capturing by predefined schedule or can be controlled remotely
from another mobile phone by SMS or calls
- Starts the application on boot.
The developed application provides flexible management options
for:
Allows the user to send SMS, or make a call to start video capturing.
Is accomplished by comparing frames. The user defines how many frames a motion snapshot
should contain to recognize a suspicious object, thus discounting objects that are
not a threat, such as a bird flying by. The video is then analyzed according to
the amount of frames previously programmed by using custom settings.
Are sent to the mobile phone carried by the survivor. The user can select to receive
SMS, MMS containing a video clip, or even receive a call as to hear what is happening.
Allows the camera to be set to automatically record video and audio on schedule,
or when motion is detected.
Axmor’s Symbian developers implemented a smart functionality of this mobile application.
High performance is achieved with only one main mobile phone processor by capturing
video at the rate of 2 to 5 frames per second.
