Business Challenge
Our customer is a large corporation with multiple sub-divisions and thousands of
employees. It is a challenge to effectively manage such a large organization. As
the company didn't have a unified IT infrastructure and workflow system, it was
even more challenging to run the corporation effectively. For example, each department
used to release documentation in its own data format, which was often inconvenient
for other company departments.
Historically, the company’s IT department spent a lot of time and effort to support
the applications used at the company. Also, it was time-consuming to control access
rights of the applications for company staff. Information security has always been
a primary concern for our customer.
To provide an effective solution to the above problems, our customer decided to
deploy a corporate portal. The portal would establish a single information infrastructure,
simplify IT system management, yet maintain tight control over the corporate information
flow.
It is important to note that our customer could not permit external developers to
work with internal corporate information. At the same time, our company’s software
engineers didn't posses the required skills to undertake the project.
Software Solution
To ensure reception of a high-quality solution while keeping all information confidential,
our customer decided to allow external software experts to develop the required
system using fake corporate data.
Axmor Software and the company jointly delivered a corporate portal that serves
both as a corporate information system and a handy gateway to all office applications.
The solution ensures that users need not install any software applications to access
the corporate network and work with corporate data. Now when a user logs into the
unified corporate IT system, he / she is able to run any available application required
for processing corresponding corporate data. A user has all access rights assigned
only once, when he / she logs into the portal.
During the first stage of the project implementation, the
following modules were integrated into the portal:
- HR workflow module responsible for issuing personnel orders and instructions
- Resource planning
- Sales orders handling
Our customer was satisfied with the deliverables and contracted us to develop other
modules as well. Effectiveness was realized almost immediately upon introducing
the solution.
